Metrology

Metrological activities are performed in a specialized laboratory, able to verify, calibrate and supervise the control of geometric, mechanic, parametric, electromagnetic and thermal measurement units.

Calibration activities performed for measurement lines are specific for: angle, movement, force, torque, pressure, flow, vibrations, rotational speed, electric power, temperature and density.
All instruments, equipments, gauges and measurement lines used in this laboratory fully comply with the standards imposed by National Institute for Metrology.

Besides the main activity of instrumentation checking, calibrating and adjusting, the metrological laboratory also performs inspection equipment maintenance and mechanical measurement instrument repair activities.

CHEMICAL ANALYSIS

The Laboratory of Chemical Analysis combines the most modern techniques with classical analysis methods.

Within the laboratory  are performed qualitative and quantitative chemical analyzes to determine the composition of the galvanic baths in sight to maintain their parameters.

Laboratory analyzes are also performed on: mineral oils, aviation fuels, elastomers

SALT SPRAY CORROSION TEST CHAMBER – ASTM B117

The salt spray (or salt fog) test is a standardized and popular corrosion test method, used to check corrosion resistance of materials and surface coatings.

Salt spray testing is an accelerated corrosion test that produces a corrosive attack to coated samples in order to evaluate (mostly comparatively) the suitability of the coating for use as a protective finish.

Macrostructural and microstructural analyses

Preparing the metallographic samples involveing:

  • Sample cutting;
  • Mounting with phenolic resin;
  • Polishing to metallic gloss.

  • Rockwell  with cone ∠120°  and 150 kgf load;
  • Rockwell with  ball of 1,588 mm  and 100 kgf load;
  • Rockwell with cone ∠120° and 60 kgf load.

Residual stress measurement with X-ray Diffraction (XRD)

  • Diffractometer equipped with D/MAX-200 / PC software  for residual stress measurement / Automatic Alignment Program used to measure the interplanar spacing of crystals.
