TURBOMECANICA at International Paris Air Show 2023
Between June 19-25, 2023, the TURBOMECANICA delegation traveled to France (Paris) to participate in the large-scale international event – Paris International Airshow (SIAE 2023).
The Paris International Airshow 2023 was an event with over 2.400 exhibitors from 48 countries. In the 50,000 m² exhibition space, both visitors and exhibitors had the chance to admire aircraft in both static and flying displays. More than 290,000 visitors attended the Airshow over the course of the 7 days. The Paris International Airshow 2023 hosted top innovative companies from the aerospace, defense, and other industries. In this unprecedented opportunity to reconnect, companies from around the world gathered to start long-term collaborations and partnerships.
Equally, the event provided insights into the key issues and concerns of the industry. SIAE 2023 created multiple networking opportunities, serving as the place where companies established new relationships, reunited with business partners, and met solution and service providers, including numerous job opportunities (a new trend observed at this fair).
The delegation’s activities began on June 19, with the opening of the booth in the exhibition area. On the same day, the OPIAR booth (Romania’s booth at the Fair) was also opened. Turbomecanica had representatives (commercial and technical) at both booths.
Throughout the event, we had multiple meetings with companies from the aviation industry, where we presented our company, our wide portfolio of manufacturing and MRO capabilities, with a special emphasis on our desire and capability to enter the MRO market for the CFM-56 engine.
At the same time, there were meetings with various current suppliers of TMB, to obtain the latest updates on the status of different ongoing programs.
In parallel, there were meetings with various potential suppliers for the main bearing of the VIPER engine. The requirements and specifications for this bearing were communicated, and the representatives of these potential suppliers promised to investigate and get back to TMB with confirmation on whether they would be able to manufacture/supply this type of bearing.
Another objective for Paris International Airshow 2023 was participation in the event organized by MTU Aero Engines and Safran Helicopter Engines. During this meeting, to which TMB was invited by both companies, a joint project (involving 24 companies from across Europe) for the design and manufacturing of a new European turbo-shaft engine for a heavy helicopter was presented. The project, coordinated by the two organizing companies, was showcased with its phases. This project spans a long period (20 years), and TMB’s involvement in this project can bring significant benefits to the company, especially in the long term.
From the perspective of business development for CFM56 component repairs, participation in SIAE_2023 partially achieved the expected outcome for the delegation, as we were able to make close contact with representatives from companies in Japan, Turkey, etc., for potential contracts.
A visible advantage of the trade show that TMB’s delegation attended was our presence for the general public at the largest international fair of its kind, ensuring that the international market is consistently aware of our presence as a supplier of CFM56 MRO services and component manufacturing.
Direct contacts were established with all potential clients with whom we discussed, and we will continue communication with them to secure our first order for CFM56 components.
It is noteworthy that Turbomecanica’s brand visibility in the market has started to grow, especially due to participation in such large-scale events. Although not a new player in the market, it is evident that the name Turbomecanica is no longer completely unknown, and representatives from industry companies have started to recognize the name and show increasing interest in it.
Development opportunities for 2/3 of the factories in the civil engine component repair market, as well as in civil/military component manufacturing, are largely driven by the relationships established with representatives of companies present at these events. Relationships with visible commercial results are solidified through constant presence and ongoing dialogue between the TMB delegation and potential clients.
